Breast Augmentation
Technique to increase breast volume due to volume deficit, whether congenital, after significant weight loss or pregnancy, or to correct asymmetry. This technique is performed by placing prostheses to remodel the breast.
What is breast augmentation or augmentation mammoplasty?
Breast augmentation , or augmentation mammoplasty (AMM), is one of the most widely used plastic surgery techniques in the world. This technique involves breast enhancement by placing silicone implants under the breast tissue or behind the pectoral muscle, the latter being the most commonly used.
The procedure can be done through an incision around the areola, through the crease under the breast, or also with an incision in the armpit .
This procedure serves to increase the size or volume of the breast, as well as enhance and rejuvenate it.
It is also often performed to balance the breasts in cases of asymmetry, to achieve greater firmness, to provide a more appropriate aesthetic after a mastectomy for breast cancer, or to improve the appearance of the breast due to trauma or malformations, or as part of sex reassignment surgery.
Breast surgery is one of the operations within plastic surgery that has experienced the greatest progress.
